Off-trail hiking is often called trekking, bushwalking, bushwhacking, bush-bashing or cross country hiking and has the specific purpose of exploring and enjoying the scenery.
Currey Expedition Company has many exciting treks around the world in places like Patagonia Chile, Tibet, Nepal and India (Andes or Himalayas). We also have longer hiking trips which usually involve high altitude travel (driving to starting point) and camping overnights.
- With the exception of India, our treks are generally below 9,000 ft. in altitude.
- Moderate treks are generally 4-8 hours (6-10 miles) per day over varying terrain.
- Average daily ascents and descents of 2,000-3,500 feet.
- Rigorous treks involve 5-8 hours (8-15 miles) per day over varying terrain, with average daily ascents and descents of 2,500-5,000 feet.
- Trails can often be rugged or uneven, with high passes and summits over 12,000 feet.
